Cannabis News isn’t about making the news. We’re about helping people better understand the news and media that swirls about the cannabis industry. With so many competing and overlapping interests, it’s hard to know what’s what. We’ve come a long ways since the days of Reefer Madness, but we’re also, arguably, decades behind in legitimate research and public policy data because of the propaganda and misinformation that have been percolating throughout American society for more than two generations.
Cannabis News is willing to be a media critic and call out the worst practices where we see them, but we’re also just trying to educate people and promote what information is worth consideration. We know that we’re not always going to get things right because even the most meticulously designed and diligently conducted research can often take us in a misleading direction. At the same time, we’re committed to being honest brokers who work to publish only the best, latest knowledge about all things cannabis.
As Thomas Jefferson once advocated, “We are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.” This is a big part of who Cannabis News is. We also believe one of the most important ways we can ensure reason is free to combat the errors we make is to start with an open frame of mind that leaves us with a general attitude that cannabis has tremendous potential but also big hazards for individuals as well as larger social outcomes.
